There will be a difference but it probably won't be significant if the rest of the components are the same.

I'd expect the one with the 2.0 GHz processor to have other components that are better (unless they are the same price, in which the 1.6 GHz version might have better components).

If you do number crunching the extra performance of the faster processor will come in handy but for most other tasks you aren't going to notice it (you'll probably be underclocking the processor anyway to save power and reduce heat).

The Core 2 Duo is faster per clock than the Core Duo to the point at which a 2.0 GHz Core 2 Duo is about equal to a 2.4 GHz Core Duo (if one existed) while a 1.6 GHz Core 2 Duo would be almost as fast as a 2.0 GHz Core Duo.

why upgrade that much difference? You wont notice anything really with the speed of a laptop. Most laptops are very slow in speed and you should try and look at how much ram a laptop has for increased difference when running programs or crashing. Even if you have a 2.4 ghz processor your not going to notice a substantial amount of overall performance. Also the time has passed to have single core processors the new age is about smoothness and you should look out for Core 2 Duo processors which have 2 processors which will mean your computer will have substantial amounts of difference. Hope this helps

Buy the Core 2 Duo. It is better than Core Duo.
I found that my computer has 2 GHz processor and 448MB RAM, my friend's is 1.66 GHz (DUAL CORE) and 700+MB RAM. It run much faster than mine.

The point is that a dual core processor and more RAM will run faster than single core processor and less RAM.

yes there will be a definate incerease but you may not notice it as laptops them selves are very slow you mad a mistake even buying 1 in the first playce. To late now any way ide probably adive you to upgrade your ram also this will give the laptop a little kick up the back side.

Thanks
