Three weeks ago I broke up with my boyfriend, mainly cuz we just didn't want the same things. I figured why stay in a relationship if I already know it isn't going anywhere? I still love him, though. For Christmas I was thinking of giving him the newest book by one of his favorite authors. Do you think that's weird? Should I just leave it alone? I love giving Christmas presents to just about everyone, so giving the book is a pretty normal thing for me. But, now that he's my ex, I'm just not sure.

Another point to consider: we've hardly spoken since the break up. We work together, so we only speak if we have to.

Thanks for the insight. I guess I'm really looking for a guy's opinion, tho. Like I said, we only talk if we have to, and otherwise he avoids me. He leaves the room if I happen to walk in, etc. So, as a guy, would that weird you out if your ex gave you a christmas present? Would you think she's playing games, or is crazy? :D

If it's his fav. author, I'm sure he'll get the book for himself.

Leave him alone and let him heal. If you want to have a sincere talk with him- pull him aside and say "I'm really sorry this didn't work out the way we hoped and I know it's difficult seeing each other every day. I want to be friends, but I think we can both agree this will take some time".

Given the fact that you do not speak unless necessary, I'd stop at nothing more than a Christmas greeting card. Anything more than that will be viewed as an attempt to rekindle a relationship which you ended.

I gather that you are having second thoughts about the relationship and whether it was wise to end it.

I probably would of done that at one time but no, it's not good really. You should close the relationship like a book! Don't keep dangling threads there by buying prezzies etc coz next thing you know it'll be his birthday/ valentines day/ ex-anniversary/ passing his driving test/ congrats on a new job.......you get the picture : )

a simple christmas card ; ex is ex ; friends or not; you have to move on ; you made a decision now stick to it;donate something to a charity or someone in need in honor of the love you shared and keep that to you and you alone; this way your love grows in a new way and new direction

just send him a happy christmass sms or email. That should be enough. But if you feel like you want to give him the present just give it to him. Just do whatever makes you happy and do not stress about it:))
