OK so I got tired of doing everything I could to make my slow 768 MB Dell Inspiron 1150 fast again. I did all the stuff people told me to do. Like defrags, disk cleanup, AVG anti virus, ad-aware, ccleaner, spybot s&d, turning off the screen saver and wallpaper, changing the system settings to "adjust for best performance, reinstalling Windows, etc...you name it I did it but my pc was still slow... so I did an experiment by putting it in the freezer for 20 minutes and to my amazement it worked...now my laptop is fast again and streaming video doesn't pause every other second anymore...but then after less than an hour it gets slow and I have to repeat the process...so what could be wrong with it and why did it work?

If this is a true story, that's a great idea!
Electricity is conducted more efficiently through a cold medium with less power loss to heat. Set your laptop on an icepack from now on and keep another in the freezer.

you would be plenty extra probably to get the rrod in case you do this, because of the fact the rrod shows a hardware failure, this is plenty extra probably to ensue whilst heating quickly, like from frozen to 'regularly occurring' state... not solid! and that i'm fairly specific it's going to void your guarantee with Microsoft, and as nicely, you're plenty extra probably to wreck it in different techniques till now getting the rrod in case you actual freeze it!

it probably slows down when overheating. But putting it in the freezer will lead to condensation and you don't want that on your motherboard.

It's probably over heating.

But you really shouldn't be putting your laptop in the freezer.

Rapid changes in temp can harm the LCD screen and cause it to crack. Just an FYI.
