I have a Toshiba Satellite A205 and I wish to play City of Heros without the excessive amount of lag. The game claims that I do not have the most updated video/graphics card and I was wondering if someone could help me find what would work best. The card that I have now is a Mobile Intel(R) 945 Chipset Family. If anyone could help that would be great. Thanks alot. -Joe

What you want is so easy to do on a desktop PC but almost impossible in laptops. There are NO retail internal cards for laptops. There are a few proprietary ones for Dell or Alienware.

The Asus XG Station is purely an external set up. It requires a separate monitor, so it literally turns a laptop to a desktop. XG Station is expensive BUT NOT awesome since it only interfaces with the PC Express Card slot which just connects to system bus via a PCIe x1 lane.

The best you can do with your GMA950 onboard graphics is to have 1 to 2 Gb RAM so that shared memory would scale up to 224Mb. Then play your games at low settings. Sometimes reducing color quality from 32bits to 16bits also help.

The bad news is that your video is on board which means its probably not possible to upgrade it internally. This is one of the downsides of laptops - they don't have the same sort of hardware options as desktop computers. the only solution I know of is to use an external unit like this one

these are pretty new technology. you would need to contact asus about a release date. the reviews look good though.
