HI, I have a genuine Pentium 4 3.4mhz Processor, my problem is it runs only at 2.8mhz, why does this happen, i check my BIOS Set up and it really is at 2.8mhz, please help me with this one, I don't know how to adjust the settings to make up to 3.4mhz.
By the way my Mother Board is "ASUS P5RD1-VM", my memory is 2gig. pc400 DDR, the hyper threading on the bios set up is enabled but still it reamains on 2.8mhz.

Please help me with my problem, thank you

P4 3.4gHz (17x200mHz clock) has a default fsb of 800mhz that your motherboard supports. It looks like it is running at 17x166mHz =2.8gHz. Check the setting in BIOS. Look for CPU Frequency in Advanced Menu. It could be at 166mHz right now. Adjust it, it should be at 200mHz.

in XP see below, in vista you may have to search hardware or something

To find out what is in you computer do this (XP)

click - start - help and support
type in the word "processor" in the search

in the get info results you can find out the hardware and what Microsoft software you have
and it will tell you your processor speed and model

go on the net and check the model to see what speed it was manufactured for.
