My partner and I cannot agree on any names! The names he has picked I find really common and the names I like, he wont even consider. It's starting to cause arguements. What should we do? Any name suggestions would be appreciated too.

I think in a case like yours you both need to write a list of names you like, new names you haven't mentioned before. (between 10-20 names each) Then compare the list and find similarities like sounds, letters or combinations that are similar and work on those to come up with a name you both agree on.

It shouldn't be a fight to pick a name so if you feel it getting heated, just walk away and talk about when you are both calmer. Try not to get defensive and listen to his opinion openly and then ask him to do the same.

On another note, my suggestions are....lol...
Amara
Zara
Zahli
Jade/Jayda
Loren
Kasey
Alannah
Charlotte
Brianna
Leah
Aimee

Liam
Jackson
Flynn
Jake
Zane
Zavier
Rhys
Ashton
Blake
Kyle

Best of luck and congrats on bub

I had the same problem with my husband when we were expecting our first child (I liked unusual names and my husband liked more common names)... we solved the problem by buying a baby book from our local bookstore that had the most names in it then we each sat down by ourselves with the book and made a list of every name we liked (our lists each had like 200 names by the end) and then we gave our lists to each other to look at... we started out by crossing out the names we really didnt like then moved up that way until we each had a few names that we liked and we had even picked some the same....Good Luck!

You guys can compromise by using names that are derived from more common names. My daughters name is Mikaylee Shay. Which is from the name Mikayla which is somewhat common. If we ever have a son his name will be Maddox Shane. Names we also like are:

Mykah - From Michael
EmmaLee - Emily
Kayden
Aidan
Jayden
Trinity
Destiny
Taylor or Jordan - For both boy or girl.

Just a few ideas. I hope I helped :) My boyfriend also likes very common names. I like unique. So we learned to compromise a little. Congrats!!!!!!! :)

Me and My hubby have the same problem. He likes traditional common names and i like unsual diffrent names. The other day we each wrote down five names and the other person HAD TO rate them 1-5.... we then crossed off the names marked 3-5 and started mixing the names that were left.... its all about compramise. Keep looking, there must be a name you both love, somewhere out there ;)!

Jameson Cole and Amy Michelle for a boy and girl; you didn't mention having twins it's just the naming is so much easier this way. Declan Brody and Alana Katelyn, Christopher Wyatt and Angel Michelle.

Try a unique name that can be shortened into a more common name. ( Most names get shortened eventually anyway).... Hope you two figure things out. You have many many more decisions to make together.

Boys need strong names:
John, Jason, Jack, Mark, James, Carlos, Karl, David, Steven.

Girls need strong names. We are living in a tough world right now: Benedicta, Sharon, Debora, Ann, Judith, Dorothy, Charlotte.

Good luck!

Simple one name is better. When your child goes to school, they won't have to choose which name to call your child. Writing his name will be easier too.

See this site for 100 popular names. Most if not all of these are good sounding names.
