Prickly pear cactus, barrel cactus, ocotillo, jumping cholla, joshua tree, saguaro, mesquite tree, iron wood, palo verde tree, yacca, bouganvilla, hibiscus, red bottle brush, century plant, desert spoon, rosemary, jojoba, honeysuckle, mexican bird of paradise, queen palm, mexican palm, date tree, pomegranate, citrus of all kinds, poppies, cotton, corn, watermelon, tomatoes, pumpkins, pine trees, juniper
I have lived here for a long time and still cannot name most of the plants - it's pretty exotic but it is a desert. After some rain we get thousands of wild flower fields.

And I forgot the Creosote Bush which gives the desert a peculiar sweet and musky odor after a rain.

Willows. St. John's Wort and other plants with weedy persistance. My Hollyhocks seem to think it's okay to start coming back up! Hyacinths, but they're always trying to sprout.
Everyone should get some Hyacinth bulbs! Start them indoors and then set them free outside. They bloom and smell wonderful for a few weeks, die back and do it again as long as the ground's not frozen solid!
