LeBron has completed 4 seasons in the NBA. He took his team to the NBA Finals in his 4th season where he was swept.
Tim Duncan took his team to the NBA Finals in his 2nd year and won. Not only that but Tim was named Finals MVP. He is the second youngest player to be named Finals MVP. The first youngest was Magic Johnson.
Both were Rookies of the Year.
Tim Duncan has been an All Star every year that there has been an All Star game in his career. There wasn't an AS game in 1999 because of the League lockout. So he is 9 for 9 in All Star games. LBJ has been an All Star 3 of his 4 years.
Tim Duncan was an All Star Game MVP in his second All Star game. LeBron James was also an All Star Game MVP in his second AS game.
Tim Duncan has been named to the NBA All Defense Team every year of his career. Tim is 10 for 10 on this award. LeBron has never been named to the NBA All Defense Team. LeBron is 0 for 4 on this award.
Tim Duncan has been named to the All-NBA Team every year of his career. Tim is 10 for 10 on this award too. LeBron has been named All-NBA 3 times. He is 3 for 4.
Tim has been a League MVP twice. His first was in his 5th season and his second was in his 6th season. LeBron has yet to be named League MVP but this is his 5th year and I think that, so far, it looks good for him to get his first League MVP.
Tim Duncan is the best player in the League today. But LeBron is looking pretty darn good.

Right now, Kobe is still the more talented player. Kobe's a better shooter, equal slasher, and much better on-ball defender. You can't really directly compare them, though, because Kobe is a SG, while LeBron is a SF.
The people trying to say that LeBron is better than Jordan are just wrong. Not to mention, their reasonings are way off. Jordan had an All-Star cast of teammates? Did you see the 1991-1993 Bulls? Jordan had a young Pippen, and hardly anything else. Horace Grant was decent, nothing more. Paxson was a jump-shooter, nothing more. Jordan's supporting cast was average, and he took them to 3 straight titles. Yes, his teammates were very good for the 2nd 3-peat, but I think it's hilarious that people are pointing to Luc Longley and Steve Kerr.
No doubt, LeBron is a great player with a bright future, but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

It really depends on what u mean by the best!!! For instances, some plp consider the best by just scoring, rebounding, passing, or blocking. Some consider Tim Duncan the best and I can't stand him. But the championships and the MVP's don't lie.
Yes at this point I can say he's the best in the league but put Kobe in the East, or Tracy McGrady back.....plsss A.I.!! They can be hated by critics but they all were regraded at some point and time of their career as the best.... I don't know about my guy McGrady....but what I'm trying to say is he is the best with whats he's been given but like I said!!! Do u think he would be in the playoffs if he was in the West.....well hes not sooooo....who knows

I have been giving this honor to Kobe but this year Lebron has been playing his butt off. He's doing better than triple doubles he's doing video game stats. Not to mention he's the best defensive player on his team. By far he's the MVP right now! My question is how long can he keep this up? He wasn't this good last year and he took his team to the finals, this year he beat the big 3 everyone picked to win everything. Newsflash Lebron is on a different level than everybody else including Kobe and D.Wade.

He certainly is one of the best currently, he's an amazing player, but he can improve his game. I still think duncan is the best player in hte league today, he doesn't put up numbers like lebron, but he comes through when the team needs him to. He controls the half court game for the spurs, he doesn't even need to touch the ball to be effective on the court. His presense on the court alone is amazing, it makes it easier for others on the team to score. He just knows how to win ball games.

No doubt he is the best in the league. I know people were saying its too early to compare him to Jordan but I think that no longer stands. Lebron passes. That simple fact is what single handedly puts him over Jordan as a player at the moment. Now statistically he has not reached Michael Jordan's milestones. The thing is he leads the league in scoring and assists. Something Kobe Bryant could not fathom, let alone apply to his game. The thing is MJ had an All-Star cast around him. Lebron is building All-Stars around him. Drew Gooden is as confident as he has ever been. Big Z is just as confident and is having a career year. The bench is shooting so well. Daniel Gibson has a plateau to play on thanks to Lebron. A place where he can drive, shoot, and make gutsy defensive plays. He helps spread the floor. Lebron has turned this team into a threat everynight. He doesnt grind out 13 assists a night, those assists come with the flow of the game. He is producing statistics well beyond Jordan everday. It seems like everygame the only player they can compare him to is Wilt Chamberlain. I think the critics can zip it now with their bashing of King James passing the ball. Lebron plays on a whole other level in which he is not the only one up there. He brings his whole team with him. When they lose its because of bad shooting teamwise. That hasnt been happening lately. Lebron James and the Cavaliers are showing everyone right now why the are the defending Eastern Conference Champions. You guys act like Tim Duncan had so much to overcome to get as good as he is. He was on a good team always in my opinion. Unlike Tim Duncan who has his usual numbers and has never really gotten much better than he got after a few years in the NBA. Lebron not only rocked the world his rookie season but he keeps getting better and better.

i know you wont agree with this because you like Lebron. lebron is great but his team is under rated his team made the finals not lebron. yes he can get to the rim whenever he wants but his shot selection isn't great, he is not the best perimitary player. and his defense could use some work.

He's one of the best in the league. He still is young so that's the knock on him in regards of him being the best player in the NBA. Right now there are a lot of players playing extremely well the big 3 in Boston, Baron Davis, Dwight Howard, etc......I think it's hard to argue right now who's the best but if I had to go for it I'd say Baron Davis right now is. Look at what he did to Steve Nash yesterday forced him into 8 turnovers.
