What Mr. Bopols mean with that bridge-thingie he was referring to is called the "Canopy Walk". It's located at Claveria town, which is an hour and a half away from Cagayan de Oro. The Canopy Walk are sets of hanging bridges in a forest. Before you can reach the actual site though, you have to walk for an hour or so.
As for whitewater rafting, there are a lot of groups who offer competitive rates for as low as 650 pesos or approximately 15 dollars per person including free lunch. You can choose from the beginner's level (14 rapids) or advance level (25 rapids).
If you're not into sporty activities, you may want to visit the Malasag Ecotourism Village in Barangay Cugman, Cagayan de Oro. The village is situated in an area overlooking the city and you can walk around the site which is dotted with gardens, display houses made of indigenous materials, an aviary, etc.
If you want to have a romantic lunch, I recommend Cawayanon, the restaurant of the Del Monte golf course clubhouse. It's located at Camp Phillips, Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon. Travel time to the said place from CDO in a private car takes around 30-45 minutes. You and your husband can then take a quick tour through some areas of the Del Monte plantation. There's even a "fairy tale"-like chapel near Cawayanon, the sort of chapel you envision in bedtime stories, small and surrounded by woods. I'm not sure if it's open all the time though 'cause it's a private chapel.
Anyway, happy anniversary!

Arrange through our YAP Mindanao resident. Cagayan de Oro is not exactly Allan Y's base but I am sure he could cook up something exciting.
What about spending that weekend walking through the "bridge" set up atop the trees? It is in an eco-tourism area in Cagayan..
