You want some real jazz? Listen to the Ray Brown Trio with Gene Harris and Jeff Hamilton. Also Oscar Peterson Trio. For big bands make sure you listen to Count Basie and Duke Ellington. I recommend Roy Hargrove for some of the great newer stuff, and Always listen to Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong for the classics.
Hope this helps.

Women: Can't believe no one has thrown Diana Krall in there yet. Also Karyn Allyson(sp?), Jane Monheit, Rosemary Clooney, Julie London, later Joni Mitchell(mid 70's and later), Linda Rhondstat(with Nelson Riddle Orchestra), Diann Shur, Basia(awesome polish gal from the 90's, pronounced Bah-shah), Astrud Gilberto,

Men: Al Jarreau, Lee Rittenour, Larry Carlton,Donald Fagen(especially Steely Dan's "AJA" CD and his solo CD "Nightfly"). Maynard Ferguson, Doc Severinson, Winton and Branford Marsalis(sp?), Victor Wooten(best electric bass player in the world!!), Hamilton Clayton Jazz Orchestra, Anthony Wilson, Charles Mingus, Charles Brown, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones(although their music is impossible to categorize), Dave Grusin, Earl Klugh, Bob James, Joe Sample, Michael Franks(early stuff),

Mostly folks I like that haven't been listed yet...sorta.
