How come toy hippos are always blue, or purple, when real hippos are brown?

because little kids like colorful stuff. I know if I was a little girl or boy looking for some stuffed animal in a hippo shape apparently, I wouldn't want a boring stupid brown hippo. I'd want a pretty colorful one! :) What was the point of this question anyway? lol

brown isn't an appealing color to a child(or adult for that matter)on a stuffed toy animal so they have to go with a color more appealing to the eyes and cute that will sell. It's all marketing propaganda. It's like when they came out with "My Little Pony", they were blue, purple, and pink with rainbow colored Maine's...not black,brown or tan,true horse colors but colors that were appealing. Even stuffed elephants aren't the true color of dark Gray but a pastel soothing Gray... its what sells.
