everything went bad and you had a big fight and stopped speaking. You send an email asking to resurrect the friendship.

the next day you get an emailed invitation to a showing of art hosted by the person you fell for: there is no personal message - just the graphics ofthe emailed invitation.

What is your reaction?
Do you go to the art showing?
Are they just hoping you'll buy something?
Is it an olive branch?
Would you attend?
How would you act and what would you say?

I would attend. I would act civil and I don't think the person is hoping that you will buy something. Just go and what ever happens will happened; it might be good or it might be bad, but you want the friendship to continue, so you should go to show your support.

You'll never know if you don't go.

This may be the only way this person could make any kind of overture in response to your resurrection e-mail.
I'd get dressed up in my favorite drop-dead gorgeous outfit, stride confidently into the exhibition and -- once you've spotted the person in question, go over and say hello. You probably won't be able to have much of a conversation, nor might you want to, in the middle of bunch of people milling around an art show. But you may be able to set a coffee date or after show drink to talk about what has happened. (You don't have to appear desperate in doing this. After all, you sent the initial e-mail, made the "first move" as it were.)
Good luck!
Life is too short for these kind of "misunderstandings".

Call them and get away from the whole email thing. It won't be easy but it will break the ice so you can move forward.

Now - if the fight was because they cheated on you, then all bets are off. Bring your posse to the art showing and make a night of it!

Since one email follows the other it is likely that the invitation is an attempt to revive the relationship. Unless it's a case of the invitation email being sent at an earlier date and not being delivered promptly, which I understand occasionally does happen. As far as going--what do you have to lose? As to how to act and what to say, I can only suggest being yourself and saying what you feel.

Yes it is definately an olive branch. Well, you have e-mailed that person. Instead of just ignoring you she has invited you there and that way maybe you will be able to talk to each other and resolve your differences. Just dress smart and be nice and smiling, dont be awkward and i hope it will all work out ofr you. Good Luck my friend.

First up, reassess the situation. Check your calendar and see if you free that night (or day). Then turn up a bit late just to show that you have your own life. Dont go for all the wrong reasons, go there expecting the worst but hoping for the best. Just act yourself, if they dont like you for you then its not worth the bother.
