There is no "dark side" to the Moon: every part of the Moon gets two weeks of sunlight every month.
The far side of the Moon (the side away from Earth) has been imaged extensively ever since Russia first photographed it with Lunik nearly 50 years ago. The Clementine satellite mapped the entire Moon in great detail. Currently there are Japanese and Chinese satellites in orbit around the Moon, returning images regularly, available on both countries space agency sites.

There are satellites orbiting the moon. The Japanese and the Chinese are presently most active there.
And - you can see the dark side of the moon from here. I even did a picture of it:

What you mead is the FAR SIDE OF THE MOON, the side that is not facing earth. An that side there are periods of two weeks of 'day' and two weeks of 'night' - like on the side facing Earth.
