I'm with mlvue I have taken this course and they don't expect you to know anything or have any special talent and long as they know you are trying that is good enough. Now Music theory would scare the heck out of me! Your Call! xoxo

Ok, since these are needed to fullfil some sort of general requirements (because why else would you need it), my guess is that they're intro and won't expect you to know much about the subject. At my college, in order to take a music theory class you have to be a music major, so maybe they have an easy intro kind of class at your school (we don't have a performing arts requirement, just a general arts requirement). Hmmm I'd say go for 2-D design! lol

If you take music theory, you need to know how to play an instrument. My friends takes that class, he plays guitar, its intense. Everyone in there knows to play an instrument or two exceptionally well. You will only make a fool of yourself and probably get kicked out of the class anyways. Take the 2-D design class.

Theory is boring, boring, boring! It's all hypothetical and the worse part is you have to memorize a bunch of artist and people who came up with the theories, the time in which it takes place including what was going on in the world at the time. I'm with the 2-D crowd.

id go with music theory if they actually teach hands on approach like how to read musical notes or play a string instrument but if its just about the thoughts on music then forget it and go with 2-D design class cause at least youll learn something that you could put into some sort of use..

Unless you are willing to take the risk of a low grade in order to learn to draw, I would definitely take the music theory course. My guess is that they won't assume that you do know anything about music.

I suggest that you find the professor ratings for each of the two classes, and make your decision on that. The right teacher can makes the easiest class awful or the roughest class exciting.

2-D design class -- you might end up like it, besides, you're not expected to be a great artist going in. Just have fun!
