When I look at the global situation, where the rich and poor divide is so great and multi national companies hold more sway than elected leaders, I ponder the question, where are we going and do we truly have a choice anymore or it the hour now too late to change?

sorry I dont have good news to report. The richer they get, the more powerful they become, the more they will control the electoral process, the less educated the rest of the population will be, the more the people will be like slave laborers barely scratching out a living if they are lucky, the governments will be more powerful due to super technologies of eavesdropping and monitoring and of course super weaponry.
Once upon a time, the serfs could occasionally revolt and throw out the blue bloods, but at the rate we are headed such revolutions are going to be impossible due to the superior money and governmental resources available to the enemy.

As proof of what I am saying, notice how many of our american government's policies actually work against the interest of the great majority of americans. Virtually everything our government does would be done oppositely if the will of the people actually was the driver....from illegal immigration, to the war in Iraq, to health care out of control costs, to outsourcing our jobs overseas, etc.. etc.... So why is it then that a government would do things cosntantly that works against the interest of the great majority of its citizens given the fact they are elected to represent the people? There is only one answer, and that answer is that our elected representatives at the federal level do not represent the people but rather the few rich and powerful who give them the most money and finance their elections...and in return get the "ear" of politicians and have priority in dictating policy. Sure a charade is put on to give the apperance they care about us the people, but the bottom line is the masters of the politicians in the USA are the rich and powerful. This is irrefutable.
Do you remember those futuristic movies that basically show how mankind deevolves into some sort of post apocalyptic dog eat dog, warlord controlled civilization where life is cheap, we kill each other for an extra gallon of gasoline, most leave very hard and dangerous lives and a few very very powerful control things??? we are headed there.

You have a right to be concerned. Bush supporters are so consumed with hate that they say the same stuff about liberals, over and over again. You're right...the gap between the rich and poor grows ever wider, and the corporate giants are running this country. They surely control Cheney and Bush. Why Republicans defend these inept liars is mind-boggling...talk about "blind faith"!

i would hope for things to change. but with the selfishness of the west from our governments down and the attitude of do as i say not as i do. its seems like as bad as things are now they`ll go from bad to worse .The worlds gone crazy they`re out there killing each other for oil but treating things like trees that we depend on to survive as if they`re worthless

If what you are saying is true, and it possibly is (it's no where near 100% conclusive). It would probably turn into a one world fascist government.
