About 285 miles. I would think Northampton would be roughly halfway

About 290 miles - halfway roughly would be Coventry.

Having said that, its a heck of a lot easier to get from Manchester to Coventry than it is from Margate!

and Newport Pagnell Service Area is about half way.

Shortest distance is about 264 miles which makes Luton the half way point.
