the most basic description of the function of a robot is a autonomous machine that waits for a sensor input, then performs a pre-programmed action in response. Certainly there are many parts of an aerospace system that can be described as functioning like that.

robot is a very general term, and it's involved
in all brachnes of engineering.
It's different from Cybernetics and Cyborgs,
which is making human-like robots.
