I see the setup in the works... Bush will claim he was the 'manager' behind an Israeli / Palestinian compromise.
What is bothering the living doo doo out of me is the deal is between Israeli PM Olmert and Fatah leader Abbas. Abbas is now being called the President (or is it PM) of Palestine... whichever, he is being recognized by Israel and the West as the new leader and Palestinian representative.
But those that follow this story, know this is not true. Fatah only controlled the executive branch while Hamas controlled the Parliament up until last summer... when they divided after an argument over security. Hamas now resides in Gaza and Fatah in the West Bank.
Israel and the USA have since buddied up with Fatah.. excluding Hamas, etc... even going as far to give Fatah $300 million and releasing Fatah party prisoners.
Ok now with all that said, how can this be right?

I don't know about trying to win a Nobel Peace Prize, but he certainly isn't winning any prizes with the Palestinians. While moronic Bush is out touting his peace plans and the progress they are supposedly making, the Palestinians in the trenches are sending the message out in stentorian tones that there will be no peaceful solution to the Israeli-Palestinian feud, because they won't allow one, and they happen to be the people at the center of the action.
Poor George! In his usual arrogant, delusional stupidity, he still doesn't realize he's just an unrealistic, ignorant, incompetent and bumbling boob who has and will always amount to nothing but a bully who tries to accomplish his ends by force without acknowledging the wills of other individuals. Unfortunately for George, he is about to be rudely awakened from his long, lonng, lonnnng stupor, much to his horror and dismay. But by then his term in office will be over and his lasting historical legacy will be the purveyance of death, mayhem and destruction through the unprovoked attack on Iraq. Make no mistake! The Nobel committee will not be fooled. There will be no prize for peace, Nobel or otherwise, for George W. Bush. Only the recognition of him being among the most arrogant, the least accomplished and the least competent of all U. S. presidents in the last 80+ years, perhaps in its entire history.

Yes, I do think he's hoping to do some political grandstanding by getting an agreement between Abbas and Olmert. Notice how he met with them and twisted their arms to "agree to reach an agreement" by the end of 2008, just in time for the elections.
He'll try to give the Republicans something to boast about, but I wouldn't hold my breath. I expect it to end the way it always does: Israel will set conditions that Palestinian Authorities must halt all attacks on Israel, which they don't have the power to do, so the agreement won't happen on those grounds. It's Israel appeasing Bush by pretending to give a darn. They don't, but the Israeli people do. Israel's govt. does not represent the Israeli people any more so than the Bush cabal represents us.
Bush must have looked into Olmert's eyes and seen that Olmert is a loyal and trustworthy partner. Bush: fooled again.

No, and I do not see why anyone would want one.
And don't look for any Palestinian State in the near future--both parties to the meeting you are referring do not have the support from their respective supporters to make a deal in their behalf. Palestinians are divided between their self on any issue other than attacks on Israel and the US.

Kind of sounds like it, doesn't it? I bet it just irritates the wholly living hell out of him that Gore is still bettering his life and making a difference while Bush is destroying everything that he touches! I wonder if he was dropped on his head when he was a kid, because it looks as if he has never grown up!
Reason why I say this, is that, this talk of "Peace in the ME" happened all of a sudden after Gore won his prize.
EDIT: Robert...if you have watched Bush Jr. for any length of time, you quickly learn that Bush doesn't do ANYTHING without an agenda. I compare him to a spoiled brat that has never grown up...reminds me of the girl in "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"...you know the one who wanted the squirrel and through a fit? That is Bush!

George Bush is trying to escape the inevitable label of Worst President in American History. After his record of starting wars, he has no chance of being awarded a Nobel Peace Prize.

Why must there be a hidden agenda? Should one not just attempt to do whats right and move on?
I doubt its for that reason. Besides, since Al Gore won last, I seriously doubt this President would even be considered in such a liberal venue. And first off, he would have to be successful in the attempt or it would be all for not. In the end, if he is successful, would he not be worthy of it after all that has gone on there?
Anyway, since Al Gore won it, its meaning has been diminished for all future winners and contestants.
