Do you agree or disagree with this quote and why or why not? I want to record people's opinions for a paper I'm writing comparing and contrasting how people view reason. Thanks for any help!

It is fairly good, but you could switch the word ' bigot' with 'slave' and it will still be appropriate.

I agree.

"He that will not reason is a bigot"
Think of heretics and antisemetists. How do they justify hating an entire group of people based souly on their ethnic background?

"He that cannot reason is a fool"
If one cannot reason for one's self, then one is indeed a fool.

"He that dares not reason is a slave"
If someone is too afraid to try something new, or does not try to understand something purely because it seems to challenging, then they are a slave to their fear.

I could elaborate more, but it's late and I'm sure you will find many more answers with other people's replies.

The first guy is an egomaniac, he thinks that he knows better than to have to reason.

The second guy, being incapable of reasoning, is of no interest.

The third, who lacks the courage to put his energy into reason, becomes enslaved by his premature beliefs.

Yes, I really think so. When you reason, that proves just right there that you know it. That's why people argue that if you can't say it in words, then you don't know it.

True, I agree. But I won't give you my reason so you can't plagiarize my idea.
