Yes, Hawaii does deserve a BCS Bowl Game.

Sure their schedule is weak this year. I want to emphasize this year. They normally play a few teams from a BCS conference, but this year was, like the season, abnormal.

Michigan St. bought their way off the schedule, Michigan (at Michigan, contrary to popular belief) declined, USC told ESPN they rather play Idaho, etc, etc. To satisfy those that need reasons to hate, yes ,they did wait too long for other games as they were trying to find home games. Louisville, Texas, Texas Tech, and a couple others were interested in playing, but Hawaii already had 4 road games and were trying to fill the home schedule. They are able to play 13 regular season games but ended up with only 12.

Besides the Offense, what is Hawaii (the football team) known for? Losing on the road! Well, they've run off 8 straight road wins dating from last year. I don't care what conference you're in, you win on the road, you're good. Especially when a road game means traveling 2,500 miles one way!

Are they deserving of playing in a "Big" Bowl? Yes...National Championship game? Even they know that with the schedule they have, no. Don't think that Colt Brennan gave up the opportunity with the NFL to come back and play this schedule. He came back for the State of Hawaii, his team mates, and the chance to win the WAC. He's a leader and with his team, just may be the only undefeated team in the country. Yes, soft schedule, but how many Top Teams have gone down to unranked opponents? The mark of a good team is one that comes out and plays every game to win, and that's just what they did.

They'll make a good showing, no matter who they play. What more can you ask for as a college football fan?

NO. I honestly don't think a team from mid-major should be playing in a BCS game if their schedule is not strong enough. If you've only beaten two teams with a winning record on your schedule then you shouldn't be there. Only way I would consider a mid-major is if they were to have beaten 3 BCS conference teams with at least one of them being a top 15 team to earn a spot in a BCS bowl. Other than that, they don't play a BCS schedule so they shouldn't be in a BCS bowl. Think of it this way, if the BCS was not around, would the current BCS bowl games pick any of these teams? NO.

No, they haven't played anyone mere the best in the country, so how can u proclaim they're the best.

This is why the BCS should have a playoff system, so atleast most of the teams, do get to play the best in the country....

Do you think Hawaii would be undefeated if they played against teams in the SEC, I doubt they could even handle the lower tier of S. Carolina, Arkansas, Bama, and what if they played against, the Kentucky, LSU, Florida, Auburn, no im sorry, being undefeated doesn't justify you for being the best in the nation. You won in one of the WACIEST conferences

Yeah, the competition they've had isn't much worse than that of some of the teams who everyone thinks should be playing in BCS bowls, and Hawai'i is the only undefeated team in all of division 1-A. For example, Kansas's opponents only have a .421 winning percentage, and that includes 11-1 Missouri. I don't think they're National Championship material, but they deserve a berth in one of the major BCS bowls.

NO
They do not deserve a shot at the National Title. They will get a shot at a BCS Bowl Game however and after the game we will see if they are deserving of that.

Reasons Why:
Louisiana Tech W 45-44

Talk about an off day.

Hawaii WILL go to a BCS bowl! They are now ranked in the top 12. If they remain there, they WILL go to a BCS bowl game. Do they deserve it? I don't think so. When your only claim to be there is a win over Boise State, you really don't deserve to be there. However, they are undefeated and that is a hard task to accomplish, but in the WAC and weak non-conference schedule, that's possible EVERY year. They really don't deserve it, but they WILL go if they remain in the top 12.

Yes they deserve a BCS Bowl, somebody tell Craig G above that Hawaii just beat Boise State. If you want to say they have a weak schedule and don't deserve it, then I guess Kansas didn't deserve it either huh? Who did Kansas play before Missouri? Look it up, you'll see teams named Toledo and Florida International. They'll get a shot, maybe the Sugar Bowl and they will play a good team, but I think they'll be the 2007 Boise State, Craig.

yes

they are undefeated in doesnt matter what conference there from who they played they deserve a shot and they should be ranked higher then they are now they have an excellent offense there offense vs a good defense would be a good game too see if i said hawaii (11) vs florida (10) or kansas (5) or virginia tech (6) you would think i was crazy too match them up against them but i think hawaii could beat any of those 3 teams

yes to hawaii getting a BCS Bowl.

no- to hawaii deserving a shot at the bcs champ game.

--hawaii played 2 subdivision teams.
--1 team ranked in the top 20
--1 team from a bcs- washington next week will be the best team hawaii has played and wash is an avg bcs conf team at best
--hawaii had to go to OT to beat san jose st and La tech two 5 win teams!
--played idaho, (1-11) new mexico (4-8), utah st (2-10) Utah st's 2 wins were vs idaho and new mexico st. new mexico st's only WAC win was over idaho and 2 of nmst's 3 wins were subdiv teams southest louisiana and ark-pine bluff!

there is no excuse for a schedule to be so weak.

hawaii is in a non bcs conf just because they are in hawaii does not change that fact. it is rare that BCS conf teams travel to non BCS conf teams. look it up texas went to ucf, wvu went to marshall, and wvu goes to ecu every other year. i know there are exceptions to the norm and i am just thinking off the top of my head.

Yes-
Mainly because they are top 12 ranked now,, which gives them an auto. They will be ranked higher than the SEC champion if Tennessee wins.
Undefeated is undefeated....
No one plays tough non -con schedules, usually one BCS an 2-3 midmajors,,, even the so called tough SEC (see LSU's , 'Bama's, Tennessee's schedules)
They beat last years cinderella Boise St... who won a BCS bowl last year.
