A man lives in the penthouse of an apartment building. Every morning he takes the elevator down to the lobby and leaves the building. Upon his return, however, he can only travel halfway up in the lift and has to walk the rest of the way - unless it's raining. What is the explanation for this?

He's a little man! When it rains he has an umbrella to push the higher buttons on the lift!

Because the man is short and he can not reach the buttons of top floors. So he has to travel half way in the lift. When it's raining, he uses umbrella, and with the help of umbrella he can able to press the buttons of top floors.
Am I right?

Either he is a kid or a dwarf not able to push top button or on an climbing excercise advised by doctor to do every morning. The building is too tall and he can't climb all the stairs. So he chooses half way up by elevator and the remaing half by foot.

he's a dwarf and cannot reach the high buttons in the lift for his penthouse floor, unless it's raining when he can use his brolly to reach the higher levels.
