Nothing will happen apart from ancient mayas needing a new calendar. The same people that say the apocalypse is near now anounced it to be at 2000 last time when the egyptian calendar in the great pyramid ended. Apart from this all calendars have to end sometimes simply due to lack of space. So i bet nothing will happen and if something would happen you couldn't change it anyhow, so just ignore it and laugh at those people in 2013.

Most of them are right about the Mayan Calendar and other cultures believing that December 21, 2012 will cause a worldly catastrophe or even be the end of the world. Other religions believe that this is when the judgement day comes or this is when Jesus comes back to earth. Mayans described their "Doom's Day" with a detailed description on how the world will be on that day. They said that the Earth will shift its axis and will go around the sun in a different course, causing many drastic changes, deadly catastrophes, and worldy problems. No one exactly knows for sure about this. It may be just a "doom day" and not an end to the world. IIt may be the last day of the last year of the last seven years of the earth as described in the Revelations. I believe it is the Armageddon. Just for the thought, remember, the Myanas were pretty accurate with the time change with the beginning of times to the end of times with their calendar, but when it comes to other religions predicting the next coming of Jesus Christ, they are often wrong. Isn't that kind of weird? You don't necessarily need to believe or worry about this things. Just continue to live your life, like it was your last. Whatever happens, pray and have faith.

Okay, I'm usually a huge skeptic, but not when it comes to this.
People says "It's just another Y2K scare" *wrong* Y2K was a possible computer glitch that we created by numbering years 99 instead of 1999. I think everyone knew this was bogus.
The Bible/Book of Revelations - way to vague (something bad is gonna happen sometime)
The reason this time ~12/21/12 is significant is because of all the KNOWN surrounding events. These events will all take place in the years around the end of the Mayan long count calendar.

Please do yourself a favor, even if you don't believe, be ready for anything. Everyone should have a "go bag" with basic survival stuff for any emergency (fire, flood, earthquake, etc).

Among other things DEC 21 2012 is the end of the Mayan long count. There have been several other doomsday pro fices set for that date. Then again, for as long as we have recorded history there has all ways been several groups around warning everyone that would listen about the coming apocalipse. Yet, the world is still here. the diffrence we have to tolerate today is those groups have a larger audiance availible to them. Its easy to put together a web site filled with insane ramblings for the whole world to see. This is componded by the rest of hypereality (T.V., movies, ect...) lowering themselves to the status of muck rakers to gain viewers and in turn marketing dollers. Whats going to happen in 2012, well its going to be 2012 then 2013 and then 2014 and so on for for unimaginal years to come.

Some people think that since the Mayan calendar ends on December 21, 2010, that means the world will end.
Others believe that this means that life on earth will enter into a new age, something like a new astrological age.
Others do not give any credence to the Mayan calendar's end date.

I expect nothing out of the ordinary to happen in 2012. At least, I would think we won't see anything that has not happened before.
But people can sometimes make prophecies come true because they want to. And there certainly is a lot of prophetic stuff regarding the year 2012 A.D.
The following Wikipedia article about "2012" lists some of these things:
2012 is sometimes claimed to be a great year of spiritual transformation (or apocalypse). Many esoteric sources interpret the completion of the thirteenth B'ak'tun cycle in the Long Count of the Maya calendar (which occurs on December 21 by the most widely held correlation) to mean there will be a major change in world order.
Accordingly, several eclectic authors claim that a major, world-changing event will take place in 2012:
* The 1995 book The Mayan Prophecies linked the Maya calendar with long-period sunspot cycles.
* The book 2012: Mayan Year of Destiny claims the Maya may have been instructed in their wisdom by disembodied entities from Orion and the Pleiades. Contact was maintained through shamanic rituals conducted in accordance with the movements of planets and stars. However, some Mayan priests living and working in Guatemala assert that there is no legitimacy to this theory.
* The 1997 book The Bible Code claims that, according to certain algorithms of the Bible code, a meteor, asteroid or comet will collide with the Earth.
* The book The Nostradamus Code speaks of a series of natural disasters caused by a comet (possibly as above) that will allow the third Antichrist to disperse his troops around the globe under the guise of aid in preparation for a possible nuclear war, although in the strictest sense it is unspecific as to nuclear war or some other natural or man caused destruction.
* The book The Orion Prophecy claims that the Earth's magnetic field will reverse.
* The 2005 book Beyond 2012: Catastrophe or Ecstasy by Geoff Stray reviews several theories, prophecies and predictions concerning 2012 and finds where authors have used faulty information or have bent the truth to fit their theories.
* The 2006 book 2012: The Return of Quetzalcoatl by Daniel Pinchbeck discusses theories of a possible global awakening to psychic connection by the year 2012, creating a noosphere.
* The 2007 book Apocalypse 2012: A Scientific Investigation into Civilization's End by Lawrence Joseph does not make any specific new predictions, but it reviews a number of 2012 predictions made by various sources, and presents arguments for the possible existence of dangerous positive feedback loops involving solar storms, Earth's magnetic field, cosmic rays, hurricanes, global warming, earthquakes, and supervolcanoes that may be on the verge of erupting.
Other prophecies and apocalyptic writings and hypotheses for this year include:
* Terence McKenna's mathematical novelty theory suggests a point of singularity in which humankind will go through a great shift in consciousness.
* Some proponents of a peak oil catastrophe place major events in 2012. Richard C. Duncan's book The Peak of World Oil Production and the Road To The Olduvai Gorge claims that the Olduvai cliff will begin and permanent blackouts will occur worldwide. Several studies predict a peak in oil production in or around 2012. [13][14][15]
* Some alien-enthusiasts (e.g. Riley Martin), along with some new-agers, believe 2012 to correspond approximately with the return of alien "watchers" or "caretakers" who might have helped the first human civilizations with developing their technology and may have been waiting for us to reach a higher level of technological and/or social advancement. Beliefs range from the extra-terrestrials having benevolent purposes — such as to help human society evolve — to malevolent purposes — such as enslavement of mankind and/or manipulation.
* There is a Hindu following indicating the appearance of an Avatar (God in human form) with God-like powers who will herald a new age. A website to this effect appears at: End of the World 2012

Go away, or research this nonsense in all the other times it has been asked - The Maya calendar, by one calculation ends in 2012 or 1012 and this means either the world will end or they ran out of space on the rock or not a thing.

Only reason to think 2012 is special is if you religiously follow the mayan calendar, and if you do, you shouldn't fear it at all because from what I'm reading its just the end of a cycle, not an apocalypse. Think of it and the y2k bug, 2000 came, no apocalypse, and that was that.

The aliens are coming to take home those of us that have been trying to fit in and haven't with the rest of the human race.
or....it says in the Bible that only God knows when the end will begin....!
Most of us need guidance and the problem with that is most of the guides are nuts.
Yeah, I know, I'm no help either!

I'm not sure what's going to happen.
The predicted day that whatever's supposed to happen is supposed to happen is my 30th birthday.
So I'm gonna throw a big party with no intention of paying the bill.. hoping the world does end.
