She's a new friend who has some interests I don't share. She invited me to an art exhibit. Should I go with her to the art gallery even though I don't like looking at art or should I suggest something we both might like instead?

tell her that it's not quite your scene and see if you can compromise on something else or suggest something else

if shes a good new friend she wouldn't get mad if you didn't want to go

Find out if she really has her heart set on going to that art exhibit. If she does then you should probably go for her sake and look at the art. Even if its not your thing you could still try and appreciate the art. If it was just something she came up with to do then it's probably safe to ask what else she likes to do so that you can something you will both enjoy.

I say that you go to the art exhibit and give it a shot. You might end up liking it more than you would have thought. Next time you hang out then you can suggest something that you want to do.

A little art never hurt anyone. Tough it out, and go to the gallery. You might discover something you never expected. The best thing about making new friends is opening your eyes up tp new experiences. Then the next time you hang out with her, you can return the favor and introduce her to something in your world. Have fun...

Well if you really like her you'll compromise a little and go, besides your going to be with her and if you don't go someone else will...BTW don't you love all these people that say you should go because you never know you might like it, as if you've never been to an art exhibit before.
Sorry I'm Bitter tonight.

My standard for having/being a 'friend' is 100% honesty.
If I can't be honest with someone then I don't want them as a friend because they are not a friend if they can't/won't handle my honesty and make me have to be dishonest or play games to keep them 'happy'.
I also expect the same honesty from my friends so no one is playing games to keep the peace.
