It seems Pope Benedict XVI finally confessed that the cruel factory farming and treatment nowadays clearly contradict the teaching of God.

Therefore if a faithful Christian by knowingly, and pretending unknowingly consume, supporting such cruel industry, or even not bothered to such contradiction…will warrant virtue??

I doubt that the pope will have much impact on factory farming and animal cruelty. Not everyone is Catholic, not everyone respects the Pope, and even among Catholics who do respect the pope, I doubt that they believe they will roast in hell for all eternity because they ate meat.

ALL people, Catholic or not, need to take responsibility for their decisions. That does not mean that people whould stop eating meat. The raising and slaughter of livestock for meat needs to be more humane. Legislation must be passed to protect these animals from the attrocities of the industry.

But not because Pope Benedict XVI, or any other religious leader said so. Because it is the right thing to do.

We shall see.

God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them: "Be fertile and multiply and fill the earth. Dread fear of you shall come upon all the animals of the earth and all the birds of the air, upon all the creatures that move about on the ground and all the fishes of the sea; into your power they are delivered. Every creature that is alive shall be yours to eat; I give them all to you as I did the green plants. (Genesis 9:1-3)

The Catholic Church teaches:

+ It is a sin to cause animals to suffer or die needlessly.

+ It is not a sin to kill animals with as little suffering as possible for food, clothing, and the health and safety of humans.

+ Medical and scientific experimentation on animals is a morally acceptable practice if it remains within reasonable limits and contributes to caring for or saving of human lives.

For more information, see Catechism of the Catholic Church, sections 2415-2418 and following: http://www.usccb.org/catechism/text/pt3sect2chpt2art7.htm#2415

With love in Christ.

Personally I don't give a crap about the Pope or what he says, or what peta says for that matter. I do think that animal slaughter should be more humane, though.

As if the ancient religious practice of cutting a live animals throat and watching it bleed to death as a "sacrifice to God" was humane.

So what? Care What? Everyone all -around do the same thing…in the “delusion by societal norm”. Jesus redeemed us for past, present & future sins.
