I'm 14, 5'0", 96 pounds, and (I don't mean to sound conceited) very fit. My abs are flat and defined, except for the mother-freaking POOCH below my belly button. I did 30 sit-ups every day for two months. It defined my abs, but the pooch is still there. It doesn't drive me crazy, but what the freak! Is there a purpose for it? Is that why it's so gosh darn stubborn to get rid of it?!

Like I said, it doesn't drive me crazy. I'm happy with my body. I'm not stupid enough to starve myself.

sit ups only work your upper abs, your 'pooch' is located on your lower abs. do abd exercises which target this area, such as reverse crunches etc (lifting your knees instead of your chest). Also, try doing more cardio.
However, your 14 so you're probably coming into a whole new stage of growth where you will be gaining weight in more womanly areas. this is completely normal:) Hope I helped:)

You are 14 years old! I wouldn't worry too much about the pouch. Term, little belly flab under the belly button. You are still growing. Tell ya this though. I was 98 pounds and 5 foot 3 between the ages of 14-17. I am 34 now. You know, you are very fit for your age and shouldnt be worrying about your image too much. That will drive you crazy when you get older, wishing that you looked better, you could end up with disorder that way. Trust me. I was worried about all that too at your age. It made me depressed. When truely I looked great and had everything going for me, grades, lot of friends, popular, etc. Not worth it, take it from someone who wishes they could do it over.

The pooch might be excess skin or fat -- neither of which can be eliminated by "targeting" the area -- fat has to be lost by overall weight loss (ah, if only we could tell our bodies to lose tummy fat but not hit fat). I don't think it's your "woman parts" as someone mentions because your rectus abdominus does a good job holding back your innards, else you would have hernias all the time. If it really concerns you, see a doctor.

Just like one of the posters above, You need to do reverse crunches. sit ups only work the upper abs and reg crunches plus the leg crunches work the lower abs.
Lay flat, just lift your legs and do a scissors motion going up and down with your legs only.. Thatll do the trick.

you cannot get rid of the 'pooch' that is underneath your abdomen. I had a gym instructer that ran marathons that had a pouch. It isnt fat but merely your woman parts. I find that it isn't always as prominent, sometimes its there and sometimes it'll 'go down' a little .
