Hello! I really need help on my Alg. II Hw because I don't understand it! It's a Standardized Test Practice and here are the 5 questions I need help with!

1) If it takes 6 hours for 2 people to clean a house, how many hours will it take 4 people, working at the same rate, to clean another house that is the same size?
A. 2/3 hours
B. 1 1/2 Hours
C. 2 Hours
D. 3 Hours

2) What is the value of r^3 if 1/r= square root of 0.01?

3) For what integer value of m is 2m + 14> 42 and 5< m/4 + 3 < 7

given a>3 and b< -4 Solve:
a+b/a b/a +1

Ugh!
Algebra Kills me!

1) 6 hours for 2 ppl means if one person does it it will take 12 hours. Having 4 ppl makes it 12/4 = 3 hours.

2) 1/r = sqrt(0.01)
1/r = 0.1
1 = 0.1 r (multiply both sides by r)
r = 10 (multiply both sides by 10)
r^ = 10^3 = 1000

3) 2m+14>42
5
can be rewritten as
2m > 42-14
2m > 28
m>14

2
so, m has to be larger than 14, but smaller than 16. Thus,

m=15

4) your fourth one is incomplete and doesn't make sense. Make it an equation first.

edit. Darn the guy before me. submitted it 4 seconds earlier lol

1) If it takes 6 hours for 2 people to clean a house, how many hours will it take 4 people, working at the same rate, to clean another house that is the same size?
6 h ===> 2 p
x ===> 4 p
Inverting:
x/6 = 2/4
x = (6 * 2) : 4
x = 3 hours

D. 3 Hours

2) What is the value of r³ if 1/r= square root of 0.01?
r = 10
r³ = 10³ = 1000

3) For what integer value of m is 2m + 14> 42 and 5< m/4 + 3 < 7
Solution: {8 < m >16}

2 people ====> 6 hrs
1 person ====> ? hrs

1 person takes 2 * 6 / 1 = 12 hrs

1 person =====> 12 hrs
4 person =====> ? hrs

4 person takes 1 * 12 / 4 = 3 hrs

A) if 1 person ====> 12 hrs
? people ====> 3/2 hrs

(1 * 12 )/ (3/2) = 8 people

so you can easily do (B) and (C) following that example

2) 1/r = sqrt(0,01) = (1 / 100)^1/2 = (10^-2)^1/2 = (10^-1) = 1/10

1/r = 1/10 so r = 10 and r^3 = 10^3 = 1000

3) 2m + 14 > 42 ====> 2m > 42 - 14 = 28

2m > 28 ===> m >28/2 = 14

thus m > 14

3b) 5 < m/4 + 3 < 7
minus 3 through out

5 - 3 < m/4 + 3 - 3 < 7 - 3

2 < m/4 < 4

Multiply by 4 through out

8 < m < 16

--------------------------------------------------------

For the last one please be clear

what do you mean by

a+b/a b/a +1 ? ant forgotten sign somewhere or is it just two question

1) 6 hours x 2 people = 12 "man"hours, so 4 people x h hours = 12 manhours, 4h = 12, h = 3.

2) if 1/r = √(1/100) = 1/10, r = 10, so r³ = 1000

3) 2m + 14 > 42, 2m > 28, m > 14 and
5 < m/4 + 3 < 7
2 < m/4 < 4
8 < m < 16
since m < 16 and m > 14, m = 15

4) there's no equation here to solve.
