Here's my story, I have always love playing baseball, I've played the sport since pee wee, it was actually the first sport I learn how to play, basketball and baseball were the sports I played when I was younger. But when I first started highschool I believe I was 13 or 14 I stop because I wanted to try out a different sport, which was football. I abandon baseball to focus playing football. Now I'm 23 yrs old right now and 10 and 11 years has past, and I wanna get back into the game because I love it, and because I feel I have what it takes to go all the way to the majors, I have been going to the batting cages and continue to work out to get my body in playing shape. I plan on going back to school starting off at a community college in 2008 and see where it will take me. I do have the drive, commitment , and determination to do what I have to do, even though I do not have a support system which is so important for anybody who wants to chase a dream.

I'd love to get out there and train with you. I'm looking for someone like that to train with. Anyways watch the movie "The Rookie" it's a true story of a pitcher making his MLB debut at age 38. Anything is possible bro. Bernie Williams didn't start playing baseball until he was 16.

They don't hold tryouts in the organized minor leagues whose teams are affiliated with MLB teams. But, there are eight minor leagues which are independent of that system. And MLB scouts are always looking for talent to sign into the farm system of an MLB team. The source below has a section on the bottom of the front page which lists all of those "indy" leagues. Check it near the beginning of spring to see where they will be holding tryouts. Most of them being their seasons in May and end around Labor Day.

It is great that you want to get into baseball again. First, it was dumb of you to ask if it is to late for a 23 year old. There is still lots of time to make it to the pros. I suggest that you go to eteamz.active.com/patneshek, because it is a website creat by the side armed pitcher pat neshek. You can email Pat and ask him where some mlb scouts are having tryouts so you can attend. By emailing him or posting a blog. If you create a account on that website email it to me. Good luck!!

I don't want to dash any of your hopes and dreams. But I would honestly say if you haven't played competitively in 10-11 years, your time has passed. You need to have played in high school at the varsity level and been among the elite to get drafted out of high school, then move onto college.. most colleges, let alone JUCO would be apprehensive to take on a 23 yr old who hasn't played since he was 13 yrs old. I have done 2 internships in MLB and know many scouts, and many college guys are starting their pro career around 21-22... Out of high school, guys are starting their pro career around 18-19. So with that said, IF you had kept playing, you would potentially be 1-4 years into your pro career at this point. I know many scouting directors are aprehensive to draft older guys, because they are for the most part done growing, and they have lost so much developmental time. Say you get drafted next yr, which wont happen cause you'll need atleast 2 yrs at juco to catch up to speed.. that puts you at 25, you take ATLEAST 3-4 years of development, which puts you at 28-29... at that point, most guys should be in the majors and establishing themselves.

This is just my opinion on this from being around many scouts and front office staff. With that said, best of luck!

You have till your 24 to go to tryout camps. They won't really even look at you after that except in rare circumstances. The only support system you really need is you. If you have your head on straight and work hard, that's all you need for you.

If you really want to know - go to a A or AA minor league open tryout. Most of the teams hold them from time to time. Believe me, you will get a brutally honest answer to your question.

http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/official_info/about_mlb/tryout_club.jsp has the 2007 tryout schedule now, but the new one should be posted soon. Good luck!

Being black has nothing to do with it.

That aside, more than likely you are way past making it in the majors. Impossible? No. But I wouldnt start spending that signing bonus just yet. Sorry. If you havent played organized ball in so long, the time has probably passed you by.

To late. There is a conspiracy against black players in MLB.
