I was on the bus coming home from school today and a random girl from my Facebook friends' list came up to me and said "You are such a Facebook whore!" I don't really associate myself with her that much, only as an acquaintance. During my Thanksgiving break I was really bored and just went on Facebook alot to pass the time, I don't usually do much on Facebook most of the time. So...why would she just come up to me and call me a Facebook whore?

I'm not bothered by it that much...I just wonder why she would go through the trouble of telling me that and it's the first time someone's ever called me a whore of any kind.
Also, I don't really do anything "showy" or flirty on Facebook, I just do random quizzes, request people as friends, talk to people, and tag photos

Among friends, it's probably a joke. Otherwise, it would definately be considered an insult. She might have called you this because 1. you're on it all the time and you're activities take up half of your friend's newsfeeds 24/7 2. you have too much revealing information on your profile. My advice spend a little less time on Facebook (impossible, I know, I tried) or at least keep your activities low profile, like don't put everything on the minifeed. Also, don't use your wall in place of e-mail/AIM, as personal and lengthy conversations aren't meant for all to see. Secondly, take down some personal information. You don't need to list all twenty of your favorite movies, for example. Most importantly, take down some of your photos--you probably have too many albums or some unflattering photos--as this is probably the leading cause of your label as the Facebook "whore." Remember, the albums are there to have fun (so have a couple of silly poses!) but they are also there to make you look good! Good luck.

I have a couple friends that are girls that go on Facebook a lot... Like if they are on a computer they will check it at least every 5 min. (I'm not joking about the 5 min even though it may just sound like an easy number, that is what they do). And I call them Facebook addicts to their face even and they just roll their eyes and say something like "I know I know" or something along those lines.
Now facebook whore from somebody that you don't even associate yourself with, well, maybe she was just in a bad mood but I wouldnt think much of it. :)

Sounds like an insult to me ... myspace whores were those people who went onto myspace and tried to collect as many friends as they could - regardless of whether they knew them or not. In any case ... the term was always meant in a negative sense.
I'm pretty sure that applies to Facebook as well.

I would indeed consider that an insult, the whore part anyway, usually when someone calls you that they are probly very jealous of the attention you are getting and they are not, not sweat it..

I don't think she meant it in that way. She probably just think you frequent the site more than she does... It was a joke. If she wanted to insult you, I think she would have thought of something better to say =>
