lol, Kurt Cobain should stay put. This is a tough call, how about Jimi Hendrix? I always liked what he did, and if her were alive today I imagine his music would have evolved well beyond the pieces he was composing in his early days. Plus I'm a lefty guitarist too.

Edit: I second Dimebag too (RIP), but he seems like too young a death at this point (too early) and he did have a good long career....

I would have to say Jim Morrison, I would've said Stevie Ray, but he wasn't exactly a "rock star" unlike Morrison who was the epitome of it. And to everyone who said or wanted to say Kurt Cobain, you're wrong. He could barely play guitar and sing at the same time, ever notice during the verses of his songs there was much less guitar playing. e.g. smells like teen spirit, all the verses were two notes.

Really? Cobain was the first one to pop into my head. Nirvana had and still has a huge influence on lots of other bands......

Hendrix; I wish I could play guitar like him.
The guy from Drowning Pool
Jonathon Melvoin (Smashing Pumpkins)
Hillel Slovak (Red Hot Chili Peppers)
Sid Vicious
Bob Marley

Tons of amazing musicians have passed away over the years, but their awesome music still lives on.

A good question. A lot of good answers.

I agree with those who say: Mr. Joe Strummer, Joey and Dee Dee Ramone, Keith Moon, and Jimi Hendrix.

Elvis Presley? No, thanks.

I would like to add to the list: Jerry Garcia and Vince Welnick.

John Bonham...Led Zeppelin would have the highest grossing tours and sold out shows not the Rolling Stones if he was still alive! Then if I could I would bring back Jim Morrison...it's so hard to pick just one!
