Yesterday I had alot of pain in my elbow and could not bend it or move it. I didn't fall or remember hurting it. I heard that if you sleep on your arm your body weight can dislocate one of the bones? Anyway I can't extend my elbow. Its swollen, and I'm in serious pain. I went to the ER and the doctor flexed my arm(not extended it) did a xray which looked weird to me but he said they were fine. he gave me some pain pills and sent me off. MY arm from the elbow down looks deformed and I can't move it or even write well. Does this even appear to be a dislocated elbow? And please don't tell me to go to the doctor...I already know that. I'm looking for an immediate response from maybe a doctor or nurse on here. Also please give me other things that might be wrong with it. My arm is shaped like a V and I can't even put my hand to my mouth to eat(my new diet plan lol!!!) please help me!!!!!!

the only: I would hate to be one of your patients. Is that what you tell them? Stop obsessing? I wish you could feel at least an 1/8 of my pain. Then you would shut up. You should have your RN license taken away. You are one of the many poor nurses that just get the job for the money...idiot! And mom I liked your info. However...he flexed it, like making a muscle but I was screaming bloody murder and he only did that partially. I cannot in anyway extend my arm or straighten it out. Thanks for the info though.

Besides ONLY: If you were a good enough nurse to know what you were doing you would know that a partially dislocated elbow has the ability to slide in and out of place thus making it very difficult to read it on an xray. You can take an x-ray and have it show up fine only to have your elbow dislocate again minutes later. You need to find a job where you are happier and enjoy the people you work with or for.

Your elbow is not dislocated, because the doctor was able to flex it and the dislocation would have shown on the x-ray. That's not to say you haven't injured it somehow, though. The nerve for the lower part of your arm passes close to the surface- remember that "funny bone" everyone talks about? If you injure that nerve, function in the lower part of the arm is messed up. You can also inflame things through repetitive activities like tennis, baseball- there are many names for it, from tennis elbow, washerwoman's elbow, etc. Treatment is usually just rest of the arm and anti-inflammatory drugs like Motrin. Some folks get relief with an ace wrap of the muscles of the lower arm and heat or ice. If it doesn't seem to help in a couple days, the doctor who would be most helpful would be an orthopedic surgeon. You may have entrapped the nerve, if you have tingling or numbness of the little and ring fingers, this is possible. And yeah- sleeping on the arm can do it all. Support the arm, quit trying to move things by force, take your pain meds or the Motrin and try applying heat or ice. In most cases that does the trick- if not, seek out your friendly neighborhood, expensive orthopedic surgeon.

I can't tell you what's wrong with your elbow, but I can sympathise! My knee began hurting really badly after no apparent injury, and I went to the doctor's - on crutches because it was so painful, and nothing showed up on x-rays or MRI's. It is so frustrating to be in pain and have everyone say, "well, it looks fine, are you sure you're not imagining it/overreacting/being a tad hypochondriacal?" IT'S SO ANNOYING!!

Maybe it's just a joint thing! Joints are funny things... at least mine are.

So yes, I feel your pain (literally and figuratively) and I guess the only advice I can offer is that maybe it's just one of those things that flares up with no apparent reason.

Doesn't stop it hurting like blazes though.

Get better soon!!

If x-ray showed nothing ,more or less, the problem is/are soft tissue. Have an MRI. You could be suffering from olecranon bursitis.
Apply hot compress for 20 mins and take your pain meds

sounds to me like you are obsessing about your arm. The xray showed nothing, and you seem to want something to be seriously wrong. Take a hot bath, take your pain medicine and go to bed.
