Friends and aquaintances have commented that I seem "girlish" and kid-like. I'm not irresponsible: I work hard at my full-time career and keep my comittments. I'm serious and generally trustworthy. What does it mean to be a "kid in an adult's body?" Is that a good thing...or a bad thing?

Hi Metoo,
Honestly, in my opinion, the words are not as complementary and flattering. You see, in "society", you are supposed to behave at a certain way even when you're not comfortable with it. You are not supposed to show emotions. You are not supposed to laugh even when something is funny and you are supposed to smile even when you're already seething inside. And I will not use the word "supposed" one more time lest I puke. Your friends and acquaintances are obviously following societal norms. But you are different, you are simply behaving according to your heart's dictates. You're living the "REAL YOU". You emote. Actually, I feel for you because in a lot of ways I'm like you. I don't make hollow promises, I work hard & I will not flatter you if I didn't mean it. I laugh when something's funny, I yell out loud when my son wins in math competitions, I flat out refuse something if I don't feel like it & I get in people's face when they did something I don't like. My friend, you really can't please everybody because you never can and you never will. As long as what you're doing jives with that of your heart, you'll be ok.

People always tend to think I am younger then I am when they just see me. But when I speak they know my age. They say im pretty mature when I speak. they may think you look it but probably dont act it. My mom gets the whole age thing too people think shes like in her 20's when she is 38 lol. Lucky for me I will look good when im older lol. Also it may mean that you like to have fun some people just dont wnat to have fun when they are older and some peeople do.

I doubt that they mean to insult you, it simply means the you are considered by them to be a very young thinker. You look for the fun in life and don't live by the gloom and doom you friends seem to see in the world. Take it as a compliment.
Merry Christmas.

I'm 21 and I commonly get passed for 14 and below. It's a compliment. I'm young and youthful looking. When I'm older, I'll look younger than I am.

It means you like to have fun; such as roller coasters, video games, disney world stuff like that. Take it as a compliment.
There are some people who act way to old for their age, and that can be a real bummer.
