I see a perfectly good reason for keeping the government out of religion, but why are they (and the left) so keen on keeping religion out of the government.
Pictures of Jesus must be taken down in public schools because if a Muslim walks by, it might offend him. I thouht that the Constitution meant they you can't descriminate religion, not block it out. The school did not prevent a pciture of Muhammad from being hung up, it's just that nobody wanted to hang a picture of him up.

hey outta here, you just contradicted yourself. Way to go. Your quote from the Constitution said that congress shall make no law prohibiting the free exercise of religion. Yet you said that if someone had a picture of Jesus posted (pretty religious to me) its against a law that congress passed.
As for ronboy... I completely agree with you.

As far as I'm concerned, anything the ACLU wants to do is anti_God.You can't ask them about this because it might infringe on their leftist way of thinking. The ACLU is the most Anti-American group of people in this country, and I believe the sooner we get rid of them the sooner this country will come together. They are nothing but left over hippies from the sixties that can't get it in their minds that we, the American people do not agree with their communist beliefs.
I know I will get thumbs down on this because the ACLU watches this site.
Here's my message to them,,,You will never win,you will never rule and most of all you don't have the guts to die for your cause. You have only to go down as traitorous coward,un-American spam whose time has come.

It is against the law to have any religious symbols anywhere under any circumstances in public schools. If someone had a picture of Jesus posted, they were breaking Federal law.

The example you show is exactly why symbols are forbidden and why religion is kept out of public, taxpayer places..... Just which "religious symbols" will be displayed....Yours, or Muslim, Buddhist, Shintu, Hindi, the several Native American symbols, Jewish?

See where that leads?

Believe it or not, your religion is not the only one, yours is not the only way, your Jesus is not the only "messiah", your god is not the only god.

Please educate yourself about the Constitution and carefully READ the First Amendment:

First Amendment - Religion and Expression

Amendment Text | Annotations
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

There is a widespread misunderstanding about the separation of Church and State in the US Consititution. The fact is that the government is not permitted to establish one particular denomination or faith as a State religion. or to interfere with the free expression of anyone's religion. There is nothing that says that religion must be kept out of government completely, and in fact it is not. I notice that presidents often talk about prayers for disaster victims and the like, and the US military has chaplains from many Christian denominations and other religions as well.

I don't think the US government is "keen", at all, about keeping religion out of government.

The ACLU has not legislative power, but government sucks up to them because they can influence public opinion. The same type of thing goes on in Canada, where I'm from.

The ACLU is a bit strange when it comes to the establishment clause. But their logic is that if you allow a picture of Jesus, then you MUST allow anyone of any other religion to display a picture of their prophet also, and that could obviously get out of hand pretty quickly.

The ACLU is pretty consistent with that little thing we take for granted called the Constitution. So while it argues against ten commandment displays in government space, it also protects the right of the KKK to demonstrate in full garb in public.

The ACLU has a mottled record when it come to the Establishment Clause; they'll fight for ablution stations and yet argue against a nativity scene.

It's the ACLU, they side with terrorists, rapists and pedophiles on a daily basis. This is bit of stupidity is pretty minor for them..
