a masa song is a song that retains in the memory of everyone. it is sang by everyone across the streets. if it has its own dance step the kids (and even the adults) can dance with it anytime and anywhere whenever the song plays in the radio.

A "masa" song is one that caters to the taste of the poor. Songs that are by April Boy Regino, Eva Eugenio, Nora Aunor etc. - music that is so "baduy" usually about a lost love, a third party or "kalaguyo" or a forbidden love. Songs that depict the everyday life of the ordinary Filipino.

A song of the "Mass" or many in the Philippines most often has to sound like a nursery ryhme or something that involves heart breaks, sex or anything that most simple minded people would enjoy and understand.

Catchy, jolly, joyful (in theme).. And doesn't really have deep meaning to the lyrics.. These are often the novelty songs that come with matching dance steps. Pinoys are cheerful, happy people, and such songs are testaments to these traits.
