of course that is a very philosophical fact that philosophers continuously ask themselves, cause this life it seems is bound to be incomplete all the time, you cannot have everything at once, even if there are millions of people around if you don't know how to care and no one cares for you then you would get lonely still and somehow even the matter of being alone could make you happy for some time.

At least you understand why you're lonely when no one is around. Feeling lonely when you are surrounded by people is more lonely than physical solitude could ever be.

Hell yes. Even when I'm surrounded by friends, and they're all talking to me and laughing, I feel very lonely, and detached, like I'm floating through the day.
Does this happen to you often? To some extent it's normal. People get gloomy. But it can be a symptom of depression.

I separated, from my last partner 7 years ago.
Well I miss here every second of every minute of every hour of every day.
Suppose she is the last person I think off when I fall asleep.
The first one that I think of when I wake up.
There is no way, we will be together again in this life!
So I have accepted that for the rest of my life, I will be lonely!

Yes!!! I think it all depends on interaction though. If you're by yourself, and you're surrounded by a large crowd of people that are communicating, then you feel left out and miserable ='(

yes i actually just wrote something about this. lately i feel like an unthankfull brat. i feel like im so loved and have almost everything i dreamed and im just not happy. ive come to figure that [in both our situations] it could be that were afraid to be happy almost as if we think we dont deserve it. you might be carying around a tremendous amount of guilt for no reason....
or it simply could just be that your not comfortable around the people your with.
think about it.

All too often, even when I'm with my wife or girl friend. Nothing seems to fill the empty hole inside of me any more. I only feel happy when I'm alone in my pirate costume.
