I do because the trap makes for some boring *** slow hockey. The Devils should be ashamed for created such a lame defense.

The trap is easily beaten with one good puck handler and a good board game for the dump and chase. Just watch Carolina, or remember back to when Carolina won it. 2 of the 3 previous Cup winners beat the trap with ease. Tampa Bay and Carolina...yeah the trap works!!!

Yes, there are a few ways to be successful against it, but not all the time. any plan is always easier when you just stand there and wait.
PK units are similar.

As long as Lou is in the driver's seat in Jersey, the Devils will continue playing their game. They will also continue to win. I don't think placing a ban on "the Trap" is as easy as you make it sound. It would have to be something similar to the NBA's stupid "illegal defense" rule. The league has already done about all they can to undo the style of play embraced by the Devils.

You hate it because it works and slows down the game.

They'll keep doing it because it works and slows down the game.

Basically, I guess what I'm saying is... it works and slows down the game.

How would you go about banning a legitimate defensive scheme?

If it's so easy to beat, why would you need to ban it? It would die of ineffectiveness.
