Our whirlpool washing machine starter latch snapped off and my husband can fix it; all he has to do is reattach the broken plastic part to the main part. What kind of glue (superglue, etc...) should he use?
The part itself costs about $30, glue is cheaper...for now...

krazy glue and super glue both make a special glue used for plastics but krazy glue makes one called advanced glue and its suppose to be used for repairing things that go through lots of bumps and wiggling, like what the washing machine would do, which do I use?

The suggestion for model glue is a good one - it works by melting the plastic so it re-fuses back together. 2-part epoxy would also be strong.

Is this a knob that attaches to a metal spindle? If so, neither of these is likely to work however since the structural integrity of the knob has been compromised at the weakest point.

It might be best to get a new piece from a repair center. Good hardware stores will also have generic knobs & dials that work on standard spindles.

Good luck-

If you glue something it's not going to work. Even if you use the most powerful glue in the world the problem will remain. Because the crack will be there forever.

I always use a two part epoxy , very strong ,you have to work quickly cause it sets hard in about 5 minutes costs around 4 dollars at wal-mart , Lowe's, home depot...... very easy to use
