Simply...No. Not the Pats style. They will let him go get a huge contract somewhere else...unless he agrees to stay for a reasonable figure.
I am sure he will leave, how could you not, when someone out there will pay you an absolute ridiculous figure to sign with them.
The Pats will let him go and plug someone else right into his spot and keep on churning.
It would be nice if he decided to stay, not like he needs the money... He should talk to Joey Porter to see if the money is worth it to leave a great team for a bad one.

i have no doubts that they will surely want to re-sign him, and he will surely want to re-sign with the Patriots. but it is more complicated than that, and that will make it difficult. his franchise tender for this year includes a clause that states that if the Patriots either A] win 12 or more games, or B] Asante plays in the majority of the defensive plays, that they will Not slap the franchise tag on him again, which means he will have the option of testing the open market [letting other teams "BID" on him]. the Patriots are still allowed to make him an offer, but chances are that another team will have a LOT more money in salary cap space to afford to offer him, and he will want to go where the money is at.
as i said, i'm sure he will want to stay with the Patriots and be on a winning organization, but if someone else is offering him a contract worth $10,000,000 more than the Patriots are, he is definitely going to part ways.
have a great day.

i doubt it thats not the patsies style, they dont like to pay players who contribute to their sucess, i dont see how they are going to afford it anyway they have a high first round pick to sign, moss welker and stallworth are all having a good year so at least one if not two fo the will try to bend the patsies over the barrel for more money, they have alot of big name talent they need to find a way to keep and in this day and age i dont see it happening for all of them

it wouldn't surprise me if he walked, that's the reason that i dont like belechicken he's loyal to very few dont think he doesnt have a say,he can have any player he wants. I think Asante will only be hear only if he wants to,i would bet that he will get better offers than what the Pats will offer

No, I think the commish will issue a command that all the Pats players be divided up and spread about the league equally, to ensure "parity". The Pats team will then consist of this years Boston College seniors and Coach Bill will have them back in the Super Bowl in 2 years.
Assante will go to the Lions.
Brady will go to NYJets.
Moss will go to Titans...lol.

They would be crazy to let him go...Not only is he their best DB...He's one of the top DBs in the NFL...This is only Samuels 2nd or 3rd year...He was not on the 2004 Super Bowl team...
