Well consider this:

-GREAT(NFL ALL TIME BEST BLOCKING ON PR's AND KR's)
-SPEED
OVER HALF OF HIS RETURNS HE DIDNT DODGE A TACKLE!

I just think he is overrated and steals all the credit from his excellent blockers. i mean did u see him in denver, on his 2 returns he wasnt even TOUCHED!

I need opinions please

Ignoring his value at other positions and focusing purely on his returning skills, I'd say both yes and no to the overrated question.
Certainly, a returner needs good, consistent blocking to get returned TDs and Hester has benefited from this. That's the yes.
However, many other teams have had good blocking return teams but you don't see their returners doing what Hester has done in such a short amount of time. His speed, agility, vision, "return IQ" and recognition skills combined with good blocking, are what put him over the top. Plenty of other returners have had blocking like Hester has but none of them can exploit it like he can.

Are you kidding me? This guy's ridiculous. Sure the blockers are great, but it's the return man that has to run the ball down the field. D-Hester's gone all the way time after time after time after time... If you asked me, I still don't think he gets ENOUGH credit.

This is how the Bears stay in games.

He doesn't get touch half the time, mainly because he's so damned fast that nobody can get near him.

I'm not a Bears fan in the least, but he is the best return man I've seen in many years of watching football. He makes guys like Deion Sanders look like they're jogging, and he's as responsible as anyone for the fact that Chicago has any chance in most of their games.

The blockers are good, but its not like he ran straight, he found holes and ran through them and also dodged tackles. If you can break everyones ankles and get buy untouched, then thats credit to you, not to others, plus there are no other PR/KR that ARE rated lol

No, I don't think he's overrated, if he's blockers were so great then Devin Hester wouldn't just look amazing last year, some other kick/punt returner would

i disagree. i know that every blocker doesnt get the credit they deserve (not only chicago's) but devin hester always makes at least two or three men miss before he starts running like a maniac and when someone is just about to get an angle he jumps the defender or just jukes and leaves the guy eeating dirt

Devin is doing the same thing he did in college. He didn't have the same blockers there. The blocking is great but nothing can compare to GREAT vision and speed.

he changes the game, good field position is important to any team, as you might not have known, not all of the teams have a Peyton Manning and a Tom Brady, so everyones efforts count.

Last time I checked football was a team game and Devin Hester is one of those electrifying X-factors in todays game.

Overated? hmmm, he wasn't touched, so is that his fault? how many players have returned TD's in 2 yrs that isn't named Devin Hester.

Don't hate the U, you Scum bucket.

ya overrated 2 td returns last week opening kickoff in the super bowl returned for a TD 108 yard field goal return last year against new york if he doesn't get the ball the kick it out of bounds or they kick it short or away from him so the bears always get good field position ya i'd say he is overrated

My opinion is you're insane. You are basically saying that it's just a coincidence that he has 12...yes TWELVE.......return TDs in only 30 career games! If he has a return where he isn't touched it's because he's blindingly fast, incredibly elusive and sees EVERY seem and opening on the football field. PLEASE learn something about football before you come back here.
