Biological organisms can produce various flammable substances, gases such as hydrogen and methane, or liquids such as oils & alcohol or even solids like fats.
The bombardier beetle has an aft burner that spews a pressurized jet of hot irritating liquid at an attacking predator. The chemicals used are hydrogen peroxide and hydroquinone added to water and a catalytic enzyme to speed the reaction in order to create enough heat to vaporize the water. Assume this could be scaled up to produce more than a few microliters like the beetle makes.
If not than some other volatile liquid that could blend in a reaction chamber with a gland to produce chemicals to fire it at will.

Next we need the reptile. There it is a bit more difficult since the largest today is the komodo dragon who would fly as well as a log.
Pterosaurs would be the best as they did fly.
Quetzalcoatlus was the largest weighing at an assumed 200lb but a wing span of 40 feet. I'd say that qualifies as a dragon.

It's a known fact that dragons existed (or at least a creature that strongly resembles the dragon we all know) and we do have the capability to clone them, I know for a fact I work for a research lab in Washington but I'm sorry to say we can't bring dragons back until we can tame them. A small dragon was cloned as a test 8 years years ago but it was much to powerful and had to be destroyed. (That wasn't an easy task let me tell you) We are currently working on a way to subdue the dragons with an injection, but so far no luck. I'm sure that some day, hopefully in the near future we will have the technology so wish us luck and keep and ear out for dragon sightings! Hope this helps!

They could have survived in remote areas such as in mountain chains or deserts. The cloning procedure could have also changed the genetic blueprint of the dragon and could have made them more efficient hunters in the climate they were living in. They could probably live in remote areas where contact with humans would have been at a minimum to avoid discovery. I would expect a dragon to be about 30 feet in length and 10 feet high with a wingspan of 20 feet. When they breath fire, they could have sprayed out 2 liquids from their mouths from different holes that would ignite when they came into contact with one another. When separated they liquids would have been harmless, so they would only ignite when sprayed out of the mouth, therefore, not causing the dragon to blow up.

Dragons would be cold blooded.
size: they would be about 30 -40 feet long, despite there size they would be relatively light to enable them to fly and glide on thier wings.
Habitat: Mountainous ranges to allow for better lift off before flight.
Diet: Carnivourous, they need a lot of protien and energy, meat is the most efficient form of diet.,
Mating: Selective and monogamous, 1 offspring per season,
Spelling: They spell any way they want to.
I could go on ad infinitum but wont email me for indepth discusion, i aam actually doing a thesis on breeding dragon like animals from todays reptiles. I have to fund it my self your in put would be appreciated

They would live inside books, some would hide in short stories, some in epic tales, mostly --in science fiction. Many of them would become best sellers, some would dwell in caves and show up on the silver screen. Just when nobody believed in them anymore, due to overexposure, they would all fly forth at once in a Vee formation and lay waste and ruin to all of human kind.

They would be no longer than six inches, they would only breathe fire to light my smokes, and they would know to spell things correctly or at the very least, how to click on the spell check link.
