Option 1: combination of Hughes or Chamberlain and Cano and Cabrera?
Optoin 2: combination of Hughes AND Chamberlain and Cano or Cabrera
Option 3: combination of a bunch of aging garbage that they dont want on their favorite team anymore. for example: Mussina and Damon, or, Farnsworth and Duncan?
I say they think its option 3

It would be great if the Yankees can dump their aging garbage for Santana, but the Indians will never go for that. They want Cabrera, and Hughes. I don't think thats acceptable.

Likely one or the other of Chamberlain/Hughes, Cabrera, Kennedy or a top lower prospect and another top prospect.
Redsox are going to be hard pressed to top the Yankees as it would likely take one of Buckholz/Lester, Ellsbury (forget Crisp, Melky is better) and then a prospect.
I dont think the Dodgers could get in the running though I'm sure the Twins would rather have Kemp than Crisp.
The Angels could get there with the young pieces they are offering for Miquel Cabrera, but I think he is a higher priority at this time.
The Mets are a possibility if Heilmann, another major league ready pitcher and Milledge were offered.

i think Moose and Ian Kennedy is the most logical solution. Hughes ,Cano, Cabrera and Chamberlain will definetly not go. Im not too sure about Damon Fransworth or Duncan having enough worth to get Johan Santana.

The TWINS will demand Hughes, Chamberlain & Caberra and probably one more prospect from the minors as well. If anyone thinks that the TWINS will let him go for anything less than the best young player the Yankees have; you're high!
The TWINS don't want the Yankees garbage or any of their stupid high priced contracts. They want young guys who they will have for a few years to get thim into their new park in 2012.
Plus, I think Yankee fans are getting WAAAYYY ahead of themselfs. the RED SOX have already been in talks with the TWINS to get Santana for close to 2 weeks. Not to mention the SOX have more tradeable parts that won't affect their starting line up and as of right now they have 6 starting pitchers. I think it's funny how Hank Steinbrenner shoots off his mouth that they're talking to the TWINS about Santana like it's news and now all the Yankee fans automaticly think it's a done deal. The TWINS are talking to at least 5 or 6 teams about Santana and will take the best package they can for him. NY most likely won't get him becaus t hey can't afford to part with what the TWINS will want. Wake up!

Either or,(And this is what the Twins said) Kennedy Chamberlain,Hughes! One from that group..With Milky and another prospect from the farm! i have been following this story since it broke. They really want Milky, and one of those starting pitchers! yankees said they WILL NOT part with Chamberlain.but they would part with Hughes or kennedy!
The twins aren't asking for two of our starting young pitchers!
I would give them
Kennedy
Milky
Ohlendorf!
Sanchez!

are u stupid, why would they trade for aging players, Mussina is what, 39?? Damon 35?? lucky if theyre still playing in 3 yrs. Minnesota doesnt need Melky. theyd want Joba, Hughes, and some other good prospect, maybe a good veteran too

Well, too many seem to think option three, not realizing that the Twins have no interest in taking on big salaries.
I think many believe it's the first option, but they don't want to think about their team giving up so much.
EDIT - I can't believe that some people aren't getting the sarcasm of this question....

Ian Kennedy, Melky, Duncan, Farnsworth. Any two of those four. Giving up anyone else would be too big a loss.

It will be a combination of players that will be acceptable both by the Yankees and the Twins.
You will know it then.
