Is there an auto A/C Compressor? I have a compressor with information about its continuous rpm. Suppliers do not give specifications about the torque requirements. I need to drive the auto A/C compressor off a motor, how do I size the motor in this case?

Depending on the type of compressor, axial or radial they can draw from 4-15 hp under load and that can vary based on the drive and driven pulley diameter and the internal pressure reguired to perform the desired task. Thats why a 4 cyl 1000cc motor almost dies when the ac kicks in

Yes there is a torque speed curve, this is how the manufacture determines the min, and max. on it's operation.
Something does'nt sound right about the compressor info, when you talk about automotive application it has to fluctuate it cannot be fixed.
I suggest you: mitchell1.com go under do it your self they will charge per vehicle and model about 10.00 but it's very informative
