Guppies need 72 - 78 degree water and the only way to maintain this is with a heater. The problem is any heater is going to overheat a 1 gallon tank. You could put the tank under a 50 - 60 watt light bulb and use a tank thermometer to ensure the tank doesn't get too hot. This is going to be quite a bit of work since you'll need to constantly monitor the temp.
The easiest thing to do would be to buy a small 5 gallon tank. It will only cost $15 - $20 and you can get a heater to keep your temp in line. You could also get a few more guppies and would have a 1 gallon tank/bowl to use as a hospital tank should a fish get sick.
Good Luck

Although guppies will live in water from 55 to 105 degrees, just like you, they prefer something a bit more moderate. The effective range for the successful keeping of guppies is from 72 to 86 degrees, with 78 to 82 degrees being the most commonly accepted.
Average temperature? Is there really such a thing. Well, yes and no. If you were to poll a group of guppy breeders you would get a range of answers as to what is the "average" temperature at which they keep their guppies. Although I use many different "set points," I do have a temperature that I use when I am not trying to accomplish something and I am using the water temperature as part of the process. I try to keep all of my tanks at exactly 80 degrees.
This means that yes, you will need a heater, unless your room temp where you live is within guppy temp range.

like everyone said, depends on where you live andthe prevailing climate in your area. I live in manila, philippines, so i don't normally need a heater. BUT, with the fancier strains of guppies, specially the albinos and other red-eyed strains, even i have to use a heater occasionally because these strains are more delicate.

No, unless you live in a house that has extreme temperatures. lol! :)
Seriously, keep your temperature steady, buy a thermometer, (2-4$) and upgrade your tank for Pete sake! A one gallon is a little to small for any fish- upgrade to a 5 gallon tank AT LEAST. It will only be about 10-60$, depending on where you live and what store you're at.
Hope this helps!
Good luck!

Provided the tank is in a warm area, that stays pretty much a constant temp they will be fine, guppies can actualy live outside in ponds if its not too cold

They might do fine for a while, but would do better with one to keep the water at a constant temperature.
