I'm not sure what you mean by carbocations!
Simplified explanation
Free radicals are cells who have a lost or damaged cell parts. They bounce around looking for the parts they need to rebuild their missing parts. While on their scavenger hunt they do damage to other cells. This damage can take many forms and cause diseases. The best way to fix free radicals is to take in good nutrition to enable them to make repairs. Fruits and Veggies are what they are looking for. If you have a diet of fruits and veggies free radicals are not a problem. Free radical are a natural product of cell use. Some times we actually can cause excessive free radical damage;. Exercise causes burning of body cells and causes free radical to be product in bulk. And extra good nutrition helps clean up the damage. Athletes usually die young because they create lots of free radicals and do not eat properly for the body to fix them.

When you take in lots of vitamin "c" it immediately becomes free radical and need "e" to fix itself and "e" need "c" to fix itself. So taking either without the other can cause more damage than good. Your good diet will give you both. A good diet can even repair DNA damage from extensive free radical damage.

A good diet is fruits and veggies, limited meat, good water and exercise, no dairy, nothing white, nothing fried,no processed foods and no fast foods.
