guppies should not be in a one gallon tank.
the only thing suitable for a one gallon tank is a snail, or a shrimp.
maybe (MAYBE!) a beta.
and everything above should have a heater (though a small one set very low), small tanks need special attention to their temperature because it can change very quickly in a small tank. (of the fish above, guppies especially need heat, though i hope you wouldn't put them in that sort of situation.)

also all nano tanks (anything under 10gal.)
should have 50% water changes daily.
if you want to keep guppies, you need a 10gal. tank. you might be able to sqeeze a few into a 5gal. but you'd have to be religous about your water changes, and even that's pushing it.

if you want something that doesn't need heat try white cloud minnows (they have about the same space reqs as guppies).
