3) luteinizing hormone

In females, ovulation of mature follicles on the ovary is induced by a large burst of LH secretion known as the preovulatory LH surge.

3) LH; I remember a graph that shows LH as at its highest concentration during ovulation. FSH is responsible for maturation of the follicle and the release of estrogen.

What is this a test question??? I think its LH. Its the hormone that is detected by ovulation predictor kits you buy in the store. It is always present in the females urine, but it peaks approximately 24-48 hours before the egg is released.
