The Aboriginal people living in the Northern Territory will welcome you if you show respect for their customs, beliefs and traditions. Art galleries and museums do not reflect the true local culture of the region, but some guided tours listed in this website are a good starting point to discovering the beauty, talents and culture of Australia's Aboriginal people.

The Darwin Museum is pretty good, albeit small, but "cultural activities" and "Northern Territory" are words not often seen in the same sentence without a negative.

If you want to see Aboriginal culture there are some professional dance troupes. The Tiwi Islands are also good for this. You can see rock art in many places - Nourlangie and Ubirr in Kakadu NP are easily accessible. There are many commercial galleries selling art of variable quality in Darwin and Alice Springs.
