Actually I have been in food service for 20 + years and some states DO have laws that the people preparing the food HAVE to wear gloves. The Department of Health in Washington state passed a law a couple of years ago stating that even if the food is going to be cooked that it has to be handled with gloved hands. This cuts back on cross-contamination that can cause food-borne illness.

Generally, it seems I would complain to Taco Bell about the language. Just because an employee wears gloves, that does not mean your food is safer! I was in a very high end grocery store last weekend, and a very nice man was wearing gloves while he put his hair in a ponytail and continued working. As far as laws, it does vary. For example, we only have to wear gloves if we are handling ready to eat food where I work.

Oh my word! that is the most absurd thing I have ever heard of. I have worked in the food service industry all of my adult life and there is most definitely a law that says you must wear gloves when dealing with food. If the health department was to walk in that Taco Bell and the workers were handling food without gloves they would definitely get fined. I suggest you not eat at that Taco Bell again.

i don't know what state you live in but if you have a question about the laws concerning glove usage contact your local health dept. the gloves are a good idea to keep people from getting sick from people who don't have the best hygiene after they go to the bathroom. as far as the taco bell manager there are numbers usually on the receipt or even in the drive thru window call that number and report the manager. that answer you got was totally wrong.

Each state is different and I have never seen them wear gloves at any taco places. And I usually get sick so no more tacos. I can`t believe you were told that by the manager. I would report it to the franchise owner.

It all depends on where you live.where I live you must wear gloves whenever you touch food; but at kfc the only time you need to wear gloves is when you are making sandwiches; because you use tongs for the chicken. But if i go up the road to another county they don`t have to wear gloves at all. I prefer gloves when someone is making my food.

It all depends on what state you live in. It is mandatory that you wash your hands when you report to work, after using the restroom, smoking a cigarette, and even after a lunch brake, but it isn't a law that you have to wear those gloves. Most places do it out of common respect and they also use hand sanitizer.

Ouch. He acutually could be reported for that. I know that either wearing gloves or reapplying hand sanitiser is neccasary, but hey one more reason not to eat fast food!
