m is meters, M is molarity, a measurement of how concentrated a solution is in moles per liter. Moles might be hard to understand if you haven't taken chemistry yet. But in general, a 2M solution is twice as concentrated as 1M, and 1M is 100X more concentrated than 1mM.

Usually, capital M refers to molarity. If concentration of a material makes sense, that's most likely it.
