Its fine for any type of pipe, but it might not be ok for a septic tank...

NO ITS NOT. MY PLUMMER TOLD ME TO USE
BAKING SODA AND VINEGAR TO CLEAR THEM OUT.
IT WORKS AWESOME! JUST USE LIKE 2-3 TABLESPOONS OF BAKING SODA ,BUT THAT DOWN DRAIN AND THEN ADD ABOUT 1/4 TO 1/2 CUP OF VINEGER , POUR THAT IN AND LET SIT FOR ABOUT 10-15MIN THEN RUN WATER. I HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH IT.
