i have to agree with the guys that say that if your husband is paying child support each month then he shouldn't be obligated to help pay for a jacket. I am paying child support for four girls and if they need a jacket I will go get them one only to find out that they aren't allowed to wear it while they are at home so why spend money and get a jacket that his daughter would like to only find out that they are not allowed to wear it. Good luck with being a step-mom. It's alot harder that being the real Mom but just give the child support and that will be enough

it depends if you are going for warmth or style. there is no set amount but the child should be allowed to pick her own out since she has to wear it. take her to two stores and tell her she has to find a coat between 50 -100 dollars or whatever your limits are. and let her do the searching. set the amount that you are going to spend up front. by firm with the amount and this way you would have stay on budget and she will wear the coat because she likes it. Instead of giving the funds to the ex-wife to purchase a winter jacket, why not have your husband take his daughter to the store so she can choose one that she is most comfortable in or likes most. I say the max for a winter jacket shouldn't be no more than $200. Depends on what part of the country you live though, since prices range from city to city.

Between $35 and $50 should get an attractive warm jacket. Pick a pretty color, one you know she likes. Maybe some gloves and hat and scarf in similar color would be nice. Don't worry about keeping up with the ex, just make it a pretty package and she will love it because it is from her dad.

There are various ways to handle it. You can go to an outlet store, or Ebay. I buy my children Columbia Sportswear coats on Ebay and they are fabulous! I think I spent around $50. You should expect to spend over $100 for a good coat.

I agree with others that say your husband should take his daughter and get her a coat, and get something reasonable but make sure its something she like or it will be pointless. but if taking her is not an option find out what stores are in her area and get her a gift card, then you KNOW the daughter will get the full benifit of what ever you send (kids have a way of making sure they get ever penny of money sent to them)
group parenting it just part of life but can really suck somedays

$50 is good for a 12 year old. And this is a good one. You can get a $25 for a decent one but not as warm. If I were you, I would ask him, since it's his daughter. I would say "what do you think honey?" if he says $50, I would say, "up to you" If he says more than $50, I would say, "well, you know I won't have a problem but we are under a budget, how about $50?"

The jacket is not for his ex, it's for his daughter. Spend whatever you can afford, making sure the jacket is practical and does the job................

Really depends on your finances. Could be a $40 walmart jacket or $200+ if your budget allows.

He should take his daughter shopping alone no other moms. She what she likes, checking out the prices. At least he should try to teach her good spending habits.
